About MGC
Mobile Games Center is a source of cromulent articles and deep-diving reviews of games released for Android devices. It covers all types of games - free and paid, shooters, tactical, puzzles - and does not skip over any pros or cons of titles you might end up downloading on your phone sooner or later. With the amount of fake gameplay or AI-generated ads shown to people everywhere and character-limited reviews on Play Store that rarely reflect the reality of a product, a review page with proper explanation of what is and what isn't sounded like a good solution.
About the author
My nickname is Honger and I'm the founder of MGR. I used to be a full-time indie game streamer and Arma 3 content creator, but due do personal circumstances and a new job that sent me 1200km away from home, I stepped down and switched to mobile gaming. Because games have always been a part of my life, and I really like to write and talk about stuff, I thought making a review brand would at least soothe my "gamer's addiction".
Reviewing process
Whenever a game shows up that I want to review, I try to invest a dozen hours in it before writing anything. During the gameplay I take notes and screenshots, check the music and graphic fidelity, write down a plot or at least a premise, assess the performance and, most importantly, check the advertisements (both of the game and included in the game) and microtransaction systems. Because of time constraints, I usually write only during weekends but manage to play through games any time I can spare - on my way to and from work, before sleeping, while waiting for an appointment.
All games are tested on Moto G82 5G phone (CPU: Qualcomm SM6375 Snapdragon 695, GPU: Adreno 619, RAM: 6GB, ROM: 128GB, Screen: 2k OLED 120Hz), both plugged and unplugged. If something does not run properly on it, it's emulated on a custom Lenovo LOQ 16ARP9 laptop.
Reviews are arranged in 5 sections (Summary, Gameplay, Audio and Performance, Accessibility, Verdict) and include genuine screenshots from the game.
The final score is not an average of the above, but something I call fun factor. Even if the game has mediocre gameplay, but great audiovideo layer and performance, it can still suck and therefore wouldn’t deserve 3 or 4.
Websites and Social Media
Apart from Medium, reviews can be read on: Substack; more might come.
